Dr. Frank J. Hakemulder joins IOUF as an External Scholar

frankhakemulderThe President, Board of Governors, Faculty, and Staff welcome Dr. Frank J. Hakemulder, Associate Professor of Media and Cultural Studies at Utrecht University (NL) as an External Scholar.  Dr. Hakemulder is the son of the founder of Intercultural Open University Foundation (IOUF), Jan R. Hakemulder, PhD.  His research interests are the effects of style in literary texts and movies, styles of film adaptation, and uses of narratives in education.

The IOUF family would like to express its profound gratitude for having such a notable scholar as Dr. Hakemulder volunteer to assist in the development of IOUF’s role in distributed education.
 
Dr. Marvin Surkin Re-releases book, Detroit: I Do Mind Dying
marvin1Marvin Surkin, PhD, Intercultural Open University Foundation (IOUF) Core Faculty, is a specialist in comparative urban politics and social change.  His book, Detroit:  I Do Mind Dying with Dan Georgakas is heralded as one of the most important books on the Black Liberation Movement and labor struggles in the history of the United States.  “Everyone who is concerned with political change will learn a lot from this book.”—New York Times

Dr. Sohan Gandhi to Speak at the International Peace Research Association
gandhiDr. Sohan Gandhi will present his paper, “Nonviolence—The Only Way to Peace, Justice, and Ecological Harmony” to the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) on November 24, 2012 at Mie University, Nagoya, Japan.  All the universities of the world recognize the IPRA, and it is a great honor for Intercultural Open University Foundation (IOUF) and our partners the Universidad Central de Nicaragua and the Universidad Azteca to have Dr. Gandhi present his paper at this conference. 

On his Asian tour, Dr. Gandhi will also speak at the Institute of Oriental Philosophy and the OkiDo Federation in Tokyo, Japan on Jain Ecology.
 
Susan Crossman Awarded Master of Arts Degree
crossman-susanThe Board of Governors, President, Faculty, and Staff of Intercultural Open University Foundation (IOUF) are pleased to announce that Susan Crossman has completed her Master of Arts Degree in English Literature and Writing awarded by IOUF along with Dual Degrees from the Universidad Azteca and the Universidad Central de Nicaragua.  Ms. Crossman's thesis focused on how conversations with others and ourselves influence our outcomes.

As the owner of Crossman Communications, Susan has mastered an astonishing array of communication skills that range from freelance copywriter; editor; public relations, web marketing, and corporate communications specialist; journalistic writer; and creative writer.  She is an expert in search engine optimization and social media marketing, for which she utilizes precision language that informs, explains, promotes, and motivates her readers.
