The bridges project is a private initiative to restore and preserve a collection of historic bridges and the timeless trails the bridges connect. All the bridges, a total of seven, are found within the communal lands of villages in the Sierra Juarez with ecotourism programs that include: lodging, meals and guided tours. The goals of this project include: the restoration of all seven bridges, ensuring measures to safeguard the preservation of these bridges, installing signage for self-guided village to village hiking via the bridges, historic documentation of these ancient trade routes, promoting increased sustainable ecotourism via a website and inclusion in guide books.
