IOU Foundation, Universidad Azteca, and Universidad Central de Nicaragua are proud to share that their notable alumnus and former editor-in-chief of the Indian daily newspaper Rajasthan Patrika, Dr. Gulab Kothari, continues his phenomenal efforts to further the cause of world peace and saving the environment.
Dr. Kothari recently participated in the Narmada Seva Yatra, a community drive to make the Narmada River pollution-free. Narmada is one of the most important rivers in Central India and is considered to be the lifeline of the Indian state, Madhya Pradesh. However, in recent years, due to rampant deforestation and discharge of untreated waste from industries and cities, this river is getting polluted at an alarming rate.
To counter these effects, the Narmada Seva Yatra campaign was launched by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. The campaign intends to create public awareness and involvement while promoting activities such as soil conservation, water conservation, afforestation, pollution control, and organic farming. In this bid, eminent personalities like Dr. Gulab Kothari, were invited to raise public awareness and educate people on how they can play their part.
Dr. Kothari mentioned the importance of dense plantation on the banks of the Narmada River and how it will not only change the state of the Narmada River but will also bring prosperity to the lives of local farmers. As a result, future generations will be able to enjoy and utilize the Narmada River. Dr. Kothari said that destiny of seed is for maintenance of others. For this, a path of sacrifice and commitment has to be adopted.
IOUF/UA/UCN are proud to have alumnus like Dr. Kothari. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
