The Dr. Jan R. Hakemulder Scholarships for Social Change
Jan R. Hakemulder, PhD, was the founder and the President of Intercultural Open University Foundation. He served as a United Nations Chief Technical Adviser to Kenya and Ethiopia. He was devoted in his efforts to “uplift the poor masses in the developing world.” In his honor, IOU Foundation is offering scholarships in the amount ranging from 1,000 Eurodollars to 5,000 Eurodollars to learners that are actively involved in social change programs.
Some examples are the following:
- health and wellness programs;
- building volunteer communities;
- regenerating a community space for citizens;
- establishing alternative schools;
- establishing homeless coalitions;
- alternative energy;
- and any and all projects that involve a basic force for good.
