In celebration of Henry George Day in Arden, Delaware, Mike Curtis, Director of The Henry George Academy thanked President Hurlong and IOU Foundation for the recent gift for books for prisoners.
The Academy offers courses on the economic theories of Henry George. In his seminal work of 1879, Progress and Poverty, George emphasizes the central role of land ownership in creating inequality. He argues that land, as a natural resource, should be owned collectively and its value should be shared by society rather than concentrated in the hands of a few individuals. To address the issues caused by land speculation and unequal wealth distribution, George proposes a “single tax” on land values.
This tax would replace all other taxes, redistributing wealth, reducing speculation, and promoting fairer economic opportunities for all. http://www.henrygeorgeacademy.org/
